Ronald Henry Schmiedel

Ronald Rock H. Schmiedel, age 83, of Oshkosh, died Saturday October 29, 2011 at Bethel Home. He was born on December 16, 1927 in Oshkosh a son of Harold and Linda Radig Schmiedel. On October 24, 1953 he married Arlene King at Grace Lutheran in Pickett.Rock was a Sargeant in the United States Army serving for 5 years. He spent many years at his cottage up north in Conover. He was a member of EAA, Central Wisconsin Auto Collectors, Elks 292 where he was awarded Elk of the Year. He was an Operating Engineer at Strey Construction, Central Contracting and worked at Oshkosh Truck until his retirement. After retirement he loved spending time with his family and friends, gardening, landscaping and taking great pride in his perfect lawn.He is survived by his wife of 58 years Arlene, his children Keith(Catherine) Schmiedel, Karen(special friend Don Garman) Reque, Kathy(Ron) Paulick, Kay(Mark) Yanke, Kim(Greg) Anderson, six grandchildren Ron(Trish) Paulick Jr. Angela(special friend Shannon) Paulick, Bobby Sultze, Justin(Brittany) Yanke, Jenna Yanke, Benjamin Schmiedel, great-grandchildren Morgan, Alex, Denise, Caleb, Patrick, Reilly, three brothers Gene(Shirley) Schmiedel, Kenneth Schmiedel, Gary Schmiedel, two sisters Alice(Earl) Meitzen, Pat(Dale) King, aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews and his Kitty Cat Pumpkin.He is preceded in death by two brothers Jim Schmiedel, Karl Schmiedel, two sisters Mary Jane Schmiedel, Carol Schmiedel and one grandson Dylan.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 1, 2011 at noon at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes-Westside with Rev. Timothy W. Routh officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park where full military honors will take place.A memorial has been established.The family would like to thank Dr. Duwell, the special care unit at Bethel Home and the special angels that cared for Dad.
