Roy J. Rauchle, 82, of Oshkosh died peacefully Tuesday March 18, 2014. He was born in Chicago on November 12, 1931 and after honorably serving his country in the Army, married Catherine Mertz on June 23, 1956. They then moved to Oshkosh where Roy was employed as an engineer with Mercury Marine for 28 years until his retirement. Catherine and he began a family in 1957 and moved them to a Lake Winnebago home in 1963 to enjoy boating, swimming, fishing, and duck hunting off of the point. Roy was a quiet provider for his family and was famous for letting you know he wanted to talk by clearing his throat just as you were ready to leave the house. Pops spent many hours tinkering, fixing and repairing, as many engineers do. He enjoyed deer hunting and volunteered to build houses for Habitat for Humanity. He holds a number of patents and was a master gardener. With the help of his children, neighbors and Valley VNA, he was able to enjoy lake living up until a fall just a few months before his death.Roy is survived by his four children; Patricia Loosen of Hartford, Mike (Jeanette) Rauchle of Oshkosh, Jim (Kay) Rauchle of Oshkosh and Dan Rauchle of Mill Valley, CA; a brother Ron Rauchle of Tomahawk, WI and grandchildren William (Abby) Bumgarner, Eric Bumgarner, Tiffany (Cody) Paff; Carly, Natalie and Reid Rauchle; Alex, Anya, Isabel and Maverick Rauchle; and great-grandchildren Hayden and Harper Bumgarner. Roy was preceded in death by his wife Catherine, parents Marie (Walter) Klein and Albert Rauchle, and infant great-granddaughter Madelyn Bumgarner.Words do not express the heartfelt appreciation to Valley VNA, neighbors Steve Procknow and Dolly Neumiller for the care given to dad that allowed him to live at home during the latter years of his life, and for everyone at Oakwood Manor the last few months. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday March 24, 2014 at 5 PM at St Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 216 W. South Park with Father Dan Felton officiating, followed by military honors. Family and friends may call Monday at the church from 3-5 pm. Burial will be beside Catherine at Oaklawn Cemetery.
