Ruby D. Crook, age 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Bethel Home. She was born on March 26, 1930, in Fond Du Lac to the late Ervin and Regina (Abraham) Bloedow. Ruby was confirmed at St Johns Lutheran Church on April 2, 1944, and graduated from St John’s Lutheran School in Nekimi in 1944. She also went to Roosevelt Junior High School in Fond Du Lac and graduated from Oshkosh High School in June of 1948.
Ruby married Arthur Crook on September 1, 1951, in Washington State in a church on top of a hill.
Ruby worked at Wisconsin Bell, SNC MFG., Miles Kimball, Tower Paint, Firstar Bank, Crooks Autobody, and Marghaels. She enjoyed traveling, especially her trip to Ireland. In her spare time, she also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Arthur; two sons, Douglas (Nancy McCarthy) and Dean (Kathy) Crook; two daughters, Debra Crook and Darlene (Chris) Karoses; eight grandchildren, Craig (Kirsten) Crook, Brad (Christina) Crook, Andrew (Mary) Mahlke, Jessica Mahlke, Kayla (Brandon) Zeddies, Joshua (Elizabeth) Crook, Jesse (Emily Kolar) Crook, Jacob (Amanda) Crook; 16 great grandchildren, Devon, Jordan, Christina, Bret, Caleb, Eli, Canaan, Eden, Andrew, Bryce, Liam, Adeline, Amelia, Cameron, Cason, and Will. She is further survived by her brother, Robert (Barbara) Bloedow; three sisters-in-law, Lillian Bloedow, Lucy Crook, and Karen Crook as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her infant son, David Alan; infant brother, Elmer Bloedow; two sisters, Laura Knack and Irene Will; three brothers, Melvin, Clarence and Donald Bloedow; stepfather, George Binning; mother and father-in-law, David and Catherine Crook; five sisters-in-law, Mae Giffey, Gloria Bloedow, Ida Bloedow, Ruth Crook and Marjorie Hopkins; seven brothers-in-law, Jerome Will, Raymond Knack, Elwood Hopkins, Lyle Giffey, Roy Crook, Thomas Crook, Donald Crook and Glenn Crook; nieces, Shari and Sue Bloedow; and a nephew, Robert Bloedow Jr.
A service for Ruby will be held at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church (913 Nebraska St) on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 1PM. A time of visitation will be held from 11AM until the time of service. A burial will take place at St John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Black Wolf.
