Russell D. Herman, age 79, of Oshkosh died unexpectedly at home on Monday February 13, 2012, He was born on September 27, 1932 in Oshkosh. Russell was a member of the U. S. Navy, he served on the U.S.S. Philippine Sea - fighter squadron 94 during the Korean Conflict. Russell married Dolores Dolly Doyle in California on November 3, 1953. They moved back to Oshkosh where Russell had a full career as a printer, working at Miles Kimball, Oshkosh Printers, and finally at Menasha Corporation. Russell lived a full life and joyous life up until a stroke in 2001 changed his ability to do all the things he loved. Russell loved to hunt, fish, trap shoot, and be with his children. His favorite place was his hunting cabin up north. He often said he couldnt believe he had such a great place to enjoy hunting and being with his family. Russell was a member of the Otter Street Fishing Club, Springbrook Sportsman Club, the Lakeshore Club, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Joyce Schultz and Donna Paulson,He is survived by his beloved wife, Dolly; children, Lana (John) Kroll, Gayle Strowzewski, Becky (Tom) Schneider, Donald Herman, and Jill (Rich) Pascarella. He was a proud grandfather to John (Angie) Kroll, Michael (Laura) Kroll, Erik Schneider, Bambi DiMaggio, Jodie Gazzana, Stayci Herman, Zachary Pascarella, Alexandra Pascarella; and great grandchildren, Kurt Kroll, Alex Kroll, Maxwell Kroll, Aiden Kroll, Julia Kroll, and Kayli Gazzana. Russell is also survived by a sister Nancy Zeller and a brother, Richard Herman.A memorial service will be on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 6:00 PM at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (Westside) with the Rev. Paul Lidtke officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Inurnment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
