Russell K. Klug, age 82 of Oshkosh, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 peacefully at his home. He was born to the late Kenneth and Violet (Kunde) Klug on May 25, 1938 in Oshkosh. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1957 and went on to serve in the United States Navy. Russell married Cherri Pulver, the love of his life on April 1, 1960 and their marriage was blessed with two daughters.
After Russell’s honorable discharge, he worked at Morgan doors for a short period before landing at Rockwell International where he retired after 30 years of dedicated service in 1995. He attended UW-Milwaukee to receive a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees: one in architecture and one in urban planning. He also owned and operated Klug’s Contemporary Designs for many years.
Russell was a member of Tin Can Sailors, MREA, BCCA, and was active on several boards and organizations for many years. Among many other things, he was a collector, but most important to him was collecting knowledge.
He is lovingly survived by his daughters, Bobbi (Robert) Butt and Jessie (Douglas) Sweet; grandchildren, Shawn, Adam, Ryan (Sara) Butt, Joshua Sweet; great-grandchildren, Adler and Addison Butt, Jax Butt, Matthew, Mason and Maxton Hungerford, Harper and Kamryn Hultman-Sweet; brothers, Lawrence, Steven (Pam), and Greg Klug; sister, Angela (Mike) Drexler. He is further survived by in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Cherri, and his infant sister, Sara Klug.
A memorial service for Russell will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, 100 Lake Pointe Dr. with Rev. Andi Wolf officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park.
