Russell L. Cook, 85 of Oshkosh died at his home on Tuesday, March 4, 2008. Russ was born in Oshkosh on June 22, 1922, a son of the late Wayne and Estelle Miracle Cook. He married Selma Kock on April 10, 1948 in Oshkosh. Selma preceded him in death on November 11, 1990.Russ founded J & R Auto Service, Inc. in 1957 and operated the business until his retirement in 1988 at which time his son Paul purchased the business. J & R Auto Service was honored in November 2007 from the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce for its 50 years of business in downtown Oshkosh. During WII he served with the Navy, repairing airplanes. Russ was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Summers at his cottage on Big Hills Lake in Wild Rose with family and friends was one of his biggest enjoyments. Survivors include two sons, Thomas (Linda) Cook and Paul (Ellen) Cook, all of Oshkosh; one brother, Richard Cook, Oshkosh; one sister, Audrey (Arlyn) Schwartz, Van Dyne; five grandchildren, Debbie (Bill) VanderGrinten, Dan (Candice) Cook, Dale (Danielle) Cook, Brad (fianc?e Raegan Ziegler) Cook, Emily Cook; six great grandchildren; and very special friend Dorothy Cline.Funeral services will be held at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Westside on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jeff Knoll officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from Noon to the time of service. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.Special thanks to the staff at Home Instead Senior Care for the care and kindness given to our dad.
