Ruth Brandt, age 88, died peacefully at home on February 15th. She was born March 15th, 1922 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Walter and Magdalene Ring of Kohler, Wisconsin. Ruth graduated from Kohler High School in 1940 and was the recipient of a Kohler High School Family Scholarship. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a BS Degree in Dietetics and then accepted a twelve month internship from Cincinnati General Hospital in 1944. She married Michael Brandt, a Kohler High School classmate, on December 15th, 1945.Ruth worked as a Dietician at Cincinnati General Hospital where she did post-graduate work in theoretical and practical work in hospital dietetics. She joined the dietetic staff at Milwaukee Childrens Hospital and worked there from 1946 to 1948. In 1948 she took a hiatus from work until 1965, and then worked as a Consultant Dietician at Parkview Health Center, Omro Care Center, and the Oshkosh Care Center until 1983.Ruths love during her entire life was directed toward her children and grandchildren. She was also a wonderful pet lover devoting her time in caring for her own and others in need. She was gracious and kind to all who knew her. Ruth was a devoted member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for over 50 years, and for health reasons transferred to Living Water Lutheran Church in 2008.She is survived by her husband Michael, one son, and two daughters: John Brandt, Germantown, Wisconsin; Robin Passow, Maple Plain, Minnesota; Wendy Brandt-Hurley, Appleton, Wisconsin; six grandchildren: Kendra and Kellan Passow, Ashley and Courtney Schmuhl and Elizabeth and Michael Hurley. She is also survived by sister-in-law Sonja Ring and one niece, Julanne Roe of Tampa, Florida; three cousins, Dr. Robert Keller, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Dr. Ted Meves, Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Paul Meves, Bloomington, IL. One brother, Karl Ring, preceded her in death.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 18th at Living Water Lutheran Church (1585 S. Oakwood Rd.) with Pastor John Dorn officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Final interment will take place on Saturday, February 19th, at Woodland Cemetery in the Village of Kohler, WI.A memorial has been established in Ruths name for Living Water Lutheran Church. A special thank you to Dr. Matthew Fischer and his staff, Preferred Home Health Care, and the Aurora Hospice staff for all of the love and support provided to Ruth and family.
