Ruth Leonora Koplitz, age 92, died Friday, July 11, 2014 at Tower View Villa, Rosendale, Wl. Ruth was born Sept. 3, 1921 on her parents' farm in the township of Black Wolf, Winnebago County, the oldest daughter of Eddie and Leonora (Luebke) Abraham. Ruth has been a baptized and confirmed member of St. John's Lutheran Church, township of Nekimi, all her life; and also attended grade school there. In her younger years she sang in the church choir, and for fifty-two years she was responsible for the Cradle Roll at St. John's, sending out birthday cards and giving out Christmas gifts to all children of the church who had not yet started Sunday school. At the time of her death she was the oldest living member of St. John's.In addition to helping her husband in all daily functions of the family farm, Ruth spent many hours through the years in her cherished garden, and has done a lot canning and freezing of fruit and vegetables; as well as a lot of sewing. During the 1950's she spent many hours on the road taking her sons to accordion lessons, programs, contests, and parades throughout Wisconsin with the Becker Music Center of Oshkosh. In the 1980's she and Norman made several trips to Arizona and California, including a trip to one of the Rose Bowl parades in Pasadena, CA. In 1990 they very much enjoyed an extensive tour of Germany, Switzerland, Austria and France, including a performance of the world famous Oberammergau Passion Play.On June 28, 1941, Ruth married Norman Koplitz and was his partner in farming on the family farm in the township of Black Wolf until his death in January of 2008. They were blessed with two sons, Rev. Ronald Koplitz (wife Mary Ellen), residing in Tempe, Arizona; and Darrell (wife Bonnie), residing in Fond du Lac. They were also blessed with granddaughters Kelly (Brandon) Martin and Kollette Koplitz; and great-grandchildren McKenna and Tyler Martin, all of Fond du Lac. Additional survivors include a sister Phyllis Zentner who resides near Oshkosh, a sister-in-law, Marcella (Lawrence) Leichtfuss of Fond du Lac, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her parents preceded her in death, as did sisters Adeline (Jerry) Roberts and Elaine (Hilly) Albrecht and brother-in-law Robert ZentnerFuneral services for Ruth will be held on Thursday, July 17, at 12:00 p.m. at St. John'sLutheran Church, 491Old Oregon St. Rd., Oshkosh, with the Rev. James Reiff officiating; Visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the 12:00 service. Burial will follow at the Lake View Memorial Park Mausoleum in Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Ruth's name to the St. John's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the church of ones choice. The family is very grateful to the staffs of both Tower View Villa and Agnesian Hospice for the wonderful care given to Ruth.
