Ruth L. Ruechel, 93, of Oshkosh, died Saturday, August 24, 2013, at Oakwood Manor. She was born July 29, 1920 in Waukau a daughter of the late Alfred and Lottie (Gade) Hannis. On January 5, 1945 Ruth married Leonard A. Ruechel in Zion Lutheran Church, Zion, WI. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2010.Ruth received her bachelor degree in education at UW-Oshkosh and taught several place in the surrounding area including Emmeline-Cook School, Clayton School, and Pickett School. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Homemakers Club, and was active with the wives of the Masons. Her interests included traveling the world with Leonard and gardening, being former secretary of the Garden Club in Wautoma.Ruth is survived by a son, Steve (Nancy) Ruechel of Georgia; two daughters, Eileen Ruechel of Oshkosh and Valerie (Jack) Beatty of Florida; two brothers, Dusty (Beverly) Hannis of Redgranite and Jerry (Sandy) Hannis of Oshkosh; two sisters, Shirley Pressican of California and Charlotte Stiller of Idaho; two grandchildren, Dawn and Lori; three great-grandchildren, Willow, Duncan, and Brayden; and many nieces and nephews.A funeral service for Ruth will be held Tuesday August 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Eastside. Visitation will be at the eastside funeral home on Monday from 5 7 p.m. and on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the service. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Ruths family would like to thank the staff at Oakwood Manor and Heartland Hospice for all their help and care.Ruth was loved by all and will be sadly missed.
