Sandra “Sandi” A. Tervonen, age 67, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 28, 2022, at Parkview Health Center in Oshkosh, WI. She was born in Hughes Springs, TX to the late James Sr. and Mary (Breazeale) Spurlin. Sandi was united in marriage on March 1, 1980, to Dale Tervonen.
Sandi was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She taught school for many years across Texas, Kansas, and Wisconsin, including first grade at Franklin Elementary School in Oshkosh. She donated her free time as a member of many committees at the United Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women, and a docent at the Paine Art Center.
Sandi was a sports fanatic who enjoyed watching and attending the Brewers, Packers, Tigers, and Bucks games. She loved to spend time outside tending to her garden and golfing with her husband Dale. Her life was filled with quilting, attending concerts, shopping, and decorating the house for the holidays. She enjoyed taking road trips across the USA, including an especially memorable trip on Route 66.
Sandi was a truly kind soul with a beautiful smile whose memory will be cherished by all who met her. She is lovingly survived by her husband, Dale Tervonen; children: David (Jeanette) Tervonen, Daniel (Jamie) Tervonen, and Susan (Jon) Spiering; grandchildren: Ethan, Allison, Clara, Margaret, Rylan, and Lillian; brother, James Spurlin Jr.; and brother-in-law, Mike Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Spurlin and sister, Mary Lynn Wilson.
A funeral service for Sandi will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 3, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church, 700 W Linwood Avenue, Oshkosh, WI with Rev. Russ Frees officiating. Visitation will take place at the church on Monday from 9:00 am until the time of service. She will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery in South Range, MI.
