Sandra “Sandy” A.” Gauger {Dix}, born October 18, 1944 in Appleton, WI, passed away on March 22, 2024, at her home with the company of her loved ones at her side.
Sandy was the daughter of Russel and Ruth (Kronberg) Dix, and was the kid sister of her beloved older sister, Beverly.
Sandy graduated from Fox Valley Lutheran High School in 1962, and immediately went to the Wisconsin College of Cosmetology where she learned the trade that she practiced for over 50 years. More than just an expert at doing hair, Sandy was an expert at cultivating relationships – eventually opening Sandy’s Beauty Salon in her home in the Town of Vinland, where her customers often became lifelong friends. Sandy’s innate skill of listening actively and deeply caring for others, served her well.
Sandy loved spending time with her family, and her baking and cooking skills conveyed to her family her deep, abiding love for them while packing on some pounds to their respective midsections. Sandy loved to cultivate the ingredients of her dishes by tending to her gardens through the years, and grew to deeply love the rural property she lived in, surrounded by the seasons and always changing elements of nature that Wisconsin brings in occasionally unexpected ways {I am looking at you, snowstorm that occurred on the day of her passing.)
Sandy is preceded in death by her daughter Cheryl Gauger, who passed as a newborn, her parents, Russel and Ruth {Kronberg} Dix, her former husband Roger Gauger and in-laws Jim Endlich, Vern Gauger, Gus {Beverly} Gauger. Ray {Phyllis} Gauger and Germaine Faulkner {Gauger).
Sandy is survived by her sister, Beverly Endlich, as well as Sandy’s significant other Greg Wuest, her son Keith {Kathy} Gauger of Charlotte, NC and Greg’s children - Ann Wuest Niebauer, Carolyn Wuest, and Diane Wuest Patri as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
