Scott John Brooks, age 55, of Omro died Thursday, January 20, 2011 at home. Scott was born November 19, 1955 in Sheboygan. He graduated from Kohler High School in 1975. He received a bachelors degree from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh in 1979 and earned masters degrees from UW - Green Bay (1983) and UW - Madison (1985). Scott was a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the State of Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development in Oshkosh. For several years, Scott was named one of the top job placement counselors in the state. Scott published a trilogy of poetry books: A Taste of Pitch, Thunder Lake and Tracings in Snow. His unique style of writing was used in the UW system to teach students the art of describing images in nature and moments in time. Scott was also an artist, concentrating on beautiful landscapes. Scott was nominated for the UW - Oshkosh Distinguished Alumni Award in 2010. Scott was deeply loved by family and friends. He made significant and positive impact on many peoples lives through his work as a vocational counselor. Scott is survived by his mother, Deloris (Klein) Brooks of Sheboygan; a brother, Tim (Misty) Brooks of Austin, TX; a sister, Kaye (Derek) Efsen of Gages Lake, IL; nieces Crystal and Barbara Brooks of Austin, TX and Kellen Efsen of Gages Lake, IL; and his dear friend Amy Mather of Menasha. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Brooks.Scotts wishes were to be cremated. A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
