Shelby Ann Mathwig

Shelby A. Mathwig, age 50, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, after a short stay at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. She was born on December 8th, 1967, in Wauwatosa, and at two and a half years old was adopted by Leo and Barbara Galica.
Shelby attended Oshkosh public schools, Lourdes and graduated from Oshkosh North High School. Shortly after graduation, she married Thomas Mathwig- also of Oshkosh. Being extremely active, she loved her horse Gilly, who she rode during barrel racing and games at shows. Besides her love towards Gilly, she enjoyed all animals especially her cats and dog later in life. While not being able to work, she spent her time knitting, sewing, crocheting and taking care of others pets, as well as friend’s children, when needed.
As Shelby became older, she became ill with many problems. Even in her darkest moments she tried to stay involved, and was seen smiling, laughing and telling jokes quite often. Next to her family, Shelby also had many friends who she kept contact with by telephone and her computer.
Shelby was provided with workers from Quality Care from Home, and always looked forward to the time they spent with her.
Shelby is survived by her mother, Barb Galica; friend: Thomas Mathwig; and twelve adopted siblings: Mike and Lisa, Karl, Robin and Cheryl, Brian and family, Jerry, Sonny, Cheryl, Theresa and family, Sammy Jo, Kristal, Nicole, Chrystal and Erika, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Shelby was preceded in death by her father, Leo Galica, whom she loved dearly.
A small family service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 5th, at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, 100 Lake Pointe Dr. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Love you forever!
