Shirley May Mainwaring

Shirley May Mainwaring, age 82, of Oshkosh passed away on Friday, October 31, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. Shirley was born January 19, 1926 and was a life long resident of Oshkosh. On August 2, 1947 she married Robert H. Mainwaring and together they had three children. She was a retired employee of Winnebago County and during her retirement she took great joy in caring for her yard and garden.Her memory will be cherished by her three children, Dan (Jeanne) Mainwaring Townsend, Montana, James (Carole) Mainwaring Plano, Texas, Ann (Jeff) Stark Oshkosh, her brother, Lathan (Marilyn) Burton, sister-in-law Jean Everson, her grandchildren, Nate (Sarah) Mainwaring, Carrie Mainwaring, Amy Stark, Angela (Michael) Wenzel, Jessica Stark, and several nieces.Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Lester and Nina Burton, her husband, Robert H. Mainwaring, an infant brother and her grandson Jason Stark.At her request, a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at her church, Emmanuel United Church of Christ.The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all the area caregivers who helped Mother and the family during her illness.
