Sylvia Emily (Sternitske) Buhrow, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2017, at the age of 96 years and eight and a half months.
Sylvia was born on March 26, 1921, the daughter and youngest child of William and Minnie (Belter) Sternitske. Sylvia was born on the farm that she and her husband Oscar Buhrow later owned.
On May 28, 1938, Sylvia married Oscar at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Borth, WI. This is now known as the United Methodist Church. Oscar preceded Sylvia in death on March 25, 2010.
As Sylvia wrote about her life, she said We were blessed with a daughter, Virginia and her husband Robert Fude, three sons; Philip, deceased June 22, 2007, Rev. Andrew and wife Nancy who took wonderful care of Oscar and Sylvia for the last ten years of Sylvia’s life, and youngest son Timothy.
Sylvia had 20 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
In later years Oscar and Sylvia moved to Oshkosh where they were busy spending time with their children and grandchildren. Also being very active senior citizens: volunteering at the meal sites for seniors and entertaining along with Oscar’s sister at the Omro Care Center. They were also very active in the First Baptist Temple Church where they were members.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and all seven of her siblings and their spouses.
A funeral service will be held for Sylvia at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- (Westside). Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Sylvia will be laid to rest in Burdick Cemetery.
