Thomas "Tom" Luther

Thomas K. Luther, age 73, passed away at Appleton Medical Center after a long fight with cancer on Friday, July 2, 2021, while holding hands with his wife, Betty. Tom was born to the late Kenneth and Ruth (Gustavus) Luther on June 21, 1948, in Oshkosh.

Tom was a graduate from Marion University earning his bachelor’s degree in engineering. Tom spent his career as an engineer at Kimberly Clark for 30 years. After his retirement from Kimberly Clark, he began to work at the grocery store in Winneconne, doing anything they needed him to do. He looked forward to meeting his K-C buddies for their monthly breakfast gatherings at Perkins. Tom married Betty Gorschels on March 8, 1969, at Algoma Blvd United Methodist Church. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Neenah-Menasha. Tom enjoyed going to his children’s sports games when they were younger and later his grandkids sports games to cheer them on. Tom could never sit still and always had to be doing something, he was very handy and liked starting a lot of projects even though he sometimes did not finish them. Tom greatly enjoyed socializing with people, even complete strangers but especially loved relaxing by the fire pit with Betty. He enjoyed traveling with Betty, especially their trips to Arizona, and leisure road trips to wherever their drive took them.

Tom survived by and will be greatly missed by his wife, Betty Luther; daughter, Janice Laurin; grandchildren, Brady (Cassie) Laurin and Jack Luther; and siblings Larry (Kathy) Luther, Suzanne (Jim) Wright, and Louise (Kevin) Manthei. Tom is further survived by Deb (Tony) Nagel who was like another daughter to him, as well as his many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his son Gordy. He was also preceded in death by his sister Alice, and Betty’s parents.

A service for Tom will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes Eastside location (402 Waugoo Ave) on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at 11 AM. Masks will be required. Rev. Rebecca Henry will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 AM until the time of service. A burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Park.
