Thorsten Per Williamson Chapin, age 30, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on
the morning of November 7, 2021 in route to church. He was involved in a tragic
auto accident, and lost control of his car which caused him to roll several times.
He was killed immediately. Thor was born on September 13, 1991, in Neenah,
Wisconsin to his loving parents Randall and Bonnie Chapin. He was welcomed by
his older brothers, Jamie and Cameron, and helped welcome his younger siblings
into the world, Gabriel, MaeAnna, and Noble.
Thor enjoyed learning under the tutelage of his mother. He made many friends in
his homeschooling group and as he grew up in the church. He enjoyed playing
games in the countryside with his siblings and especially riding bikes up and down
Reighmoor Road. He attended youth group at New Life Community Church in
Oshkosh and River of Life Church in Omro. He was an active member of Community
Church in Oshkosh, Wisconsin for over 15 years. One of his favorite trips during each
summer was visiting Washington Island in Door County. There, he participated in the
Scandinavian Folk dance festival since he was a child, this volunteer service raised money
for the community. Once he transitioned to Omro Middle and High school, he made more
lifelong friends as he played sports including football, track, basketball, and powerlifting.
He was also in the National Honor Society and was chosen to attend Badger Boys State.
He was an adventure seeker who enjoyed running, biking, hiking, skydiving,
camping, kayaking, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, frisbee golf, and
swimming among other activities. Thor attended the University of Wisconsin Fox
Valley with his brother, Cameron, and made many new friends there as well. He
was president of Campus Crusade for Christ, a member of the ballroom dance
club, and a zealous pupil of engineering, graduating with an associate degree in
Engineering.
Thor was known for his generous heart and fun sense of humor. He loved
performing acts of service and appreciated those in the service industry including
nurses, police officers, teachers, and servers. He was known to leave an
overgenerous tip. The morning of his passing he called the police station to let
them know they were appreciated, and they should get a raise, he also threw in a
couple jokes. Lately, his favorite amusement was telling corny “dad jokes” to
everyone he came into contact with. This included new friends, family, and total
strangers.
His friends described him as kind, gentle, respectful, fun-loving, “had the biggest
laugh and biggest smile”, had a positive presence wherever he went, and was a
true gentleman. His teachers said whatever room he was in helped elevate the
classroom to be more respectful.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thorsten Per and MaeAnna
Williamson, and James Harry “Speed” and Violet Eleanor Christiansen Chapin.
He is survived by and dearly loved by his parents, Randall and Bonnie (Williamson)
Chapin. Siblings, Jamie (Erin), Cameron, Gabriel, MaeAnna (Samuel) Homp, Noble
and girlfriend Leah Rysdam.
He loved his family and treasured his role as an uncle to Dahlia, Paul, Ariel Chapin
and our newest blessing Miles Homp.
He is dearly loved and leaves a huge hole in everyone’s hearts. Rest in paradise
Thor.
