Tom Lee Woodland, age 65, passed away at home on Monday, August 16, 2021. Tom was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on September 9, 1955, to the late Rolind and Marcella (Kotowski) Woodland. He was born a little brother to Bruce and Jim and later became a big brother to Jack, Mary, Jean, and Steven. As one of seven children, Tom quickly learned how important a great sense of humor was.
Tom graduated in 1973 from Oshkosh High School. He worked various jobs like setting up for bands and carnivals, volunteering for the auxiliary police and harvesting Christmas trees out west. He worked at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute for 32 years. During this time, he met many people and accumulated many stories to tell.
Tom loved his family more than anything. He cherished the time spent with his daughter, Ashley, especially when they went fishing, to the races and family gatherings. On occasion you could find him working on cars with his brother Bruce, seeking advice from his brother Jim, helping his brother Jack gather and process maple syrup on his property, exploring the mountains while visiting his sister Mary in Telluride, CO, popping in for visits with his sister Jean and being roommates with his brother Steven. He enjoyed spending time with and telling jokes with his son-in-law Ryan. He was a proud, loving grandpa to his grandsons Everett and Oscar. He was always the bargain hunter, looking for treasures to pass on to friends and family.
Tom enjoyed fishing and hunting, going to stock car races, and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. As a member of the Southside Ice Yacht Club, he devoted many hours volunteering for events they put on for the community. Tom was always quick to lend a hand to those in need or to strike up a conversation with anyone and make a new friend. He loved connecting with old friends alike and had a memory like an elephant.
Tom is lovingly survived by his daughter, Ashley (Ryan) Hoglund; two grandsons: Everett and Oscar Hoglund; two sisters: Mary Woodland, Jean (Steven) Kierszh; four brothers: Bruce, Jim (Penny), Jack (Kate), and Steven Woodland. Tom is preceded in death by his parents.
