Valetta Lois Jagielo Larsen

July 18, 1927 — December 4, 2005

Valetta Val L. Jagielo Larsen, 78, of Wild Rose passed away peacefully at her daughters home in Oshkosh, to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ after a courageous battle with cancer. Val was born on July 18, 1927 in Thurman, New York the daughter of Hollis and Elizabeth Ingraham Combs. She married Anthony Tony Jagielo on September 24, 1955 in Indiana, they then resided in Chicago. Anthony preceded her in death on February 7, 1982. Val then married Donald Larsen on January 15, 1997 in Arizona. Donald preceded her in death on April 28, 2003.Val was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Wild Rose since 1968. She graduated from high school at the age of 16. As a child she enjoyed sledding working on the family farm and being with her siblings. Val was a 1948 graduate of the New York College for Teachers. Her first teaching job at the age of 21 was in Roxbury, NY then at the Zinser Academy in Chicago, IL. After moving from Chicago to the Wild Rose area in 1968, she taught business education at Wild Rose High School and then G.E.D. at Appleton Technical School where she retired in 1990. Val also helped her husband, Anthony at his car lots in Chicago and Wild Rose. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed beading, ceramics, needle point, gardening, theatre, traveling, teaching, and loved fishing, and reading. She was a member of the Red Hat Society the Great Grannys Golf League of Waupaca and the Waushara Country Club. Val had wintered in Arizona for many years. She will be remembered for her wit and humor and her love toward her family and friends whom she enjoyed spending time with.Survivors include her children, Susan (Jeff) Volkman of Oshkosh, Daniel (Joyce) Jagielo of Neenah, Thomas and Anne Sylvestor Jagielo of DePere; three sisters, Nina Ligon of Fairhope, AL, Beatrice (Irwin) Orcutt of Seguin, TX, Lenita Shanks of Fairhope, Al, two brothers, Maurice Combs and Keith Combs both of Queensburg, NY; six grandchildren, Adena (Brian) VanGroll of Appleton, Steven and Alyssa Volkman both of Oshkosh, Jacob Paque of DePere, Renee (Brian) Schultz, and Travis (Jennifer) Gracyalny both of Neenah; four great grandchildren, Nathan VanGroll. Madison Schultz, Chayse Schultz, and Elizebeth Gracyalny, Also surviving are four step children, Thomas (Lynn) Larsen of Neenah, Patricia Larsen of Ironwood, MI, Karen (Robert) Hoexter of Fremont, CA, Terry Larsen of Ironwood, MI; four step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.A Memorial service will be at the United Methodist Church of Wild Rose on Saturday December 10, 2005, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Diane Fite officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM to the time of service. Inurnment will be in Saxville Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.A special thank you to Theda Care At Home Hospice and Home Instead Senior Care, for their care and compassion given to our mother.
