We also want to express our thanks to the hospice staff, especially Mary, Jeanne, Kathy, and Ellen, for keeping Velda comfortable and loved.Too often, I believe, we find ourselves spending our time mourning our loss when I believe that we should be celebrating a life that will always continue to give long after it has ended...My grandmother Velda was a kind, selfless woman who helped to shape me as a human being. She was many things: a card shark, a great baker and cook, a shoulder to cry on, and a wonderful wife of over 64 years. The greatest thing that my grandmother was to me was hope. She was that rare human being that truly was the epitome of hope in humanity. Every attribute she had was built upon pleasing those that she loved, setting a good example for her family in all that she did, and in making the world that she was a part of a happier place with her presence. So on this solemn day, I choose not to remember the struggles that she went through but the joy that she brought me and her entire family. I choose to say that because of her wonderful and amazing life that I will never stop smiling when I think of her. I choose to celebrate the journey that she made to her new home among the angels of this world and of all past worlds. I choose her life and all that it continues to stand for. I choose to remember that Velda Pokrandt will never cease to be my hope in humanity. Love you Grandma, Bryan
