Violet H. Kraus, 89, Oshkosh died at her residence with her daughter at her side on Saturday, May 4, 2007. Violet was born in Milwaukee on June 12, 1917, a daughter of the late Anthony and Hilda Swando Johann. She married Frederick E. Kraus on September 18, 1937 in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on September 1, 1984. Violet was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. While living in Milwaukee she had been a former member of St. Leo Catholic Church, and St. Catherine Catholic Church. She retired from Allis-Chalmers Company in 1980 after 36 years of employment. Following her retirement, she and Fred moved to Oshkosh and lived with their daughter, Sandy. Violet loved her family, friends and bowling. She bowled in two leagues at Shoreview Lanes. Violet was a past Princess of Sunshine Pythian Girls. Survivors include two daughters, Sandra A. Hug, of Oshkosh; and Carol L. Hale, of Glendale; one brother, Gerald (Lona) Johann, of Milwaukee; one grandson, William K. Hale, of Puerto Rico; and one great granddaughter, Christina Hale, of Puerto Rico. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Woodrow and Gordon Johann; two sisters, Isabel Mundschau, and Gladys Kraus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Catholic Church on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at Noon with Fr. James Jugenheimer officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM to the time of Mass. Inurnment will be at Wood National Cemetery in Milwaukee.
