Virginia J. Binder

June 19, 1927 — December 31, 2021

Virginia "June" Binder, age 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 31, 2021, with her family by her side. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on June 19, 1927, the second of six children to the late Edward A. and Johanna (Klompstra) Watson.

As a teenager, June and her sister Doris enjoyed spending their summers in Naperville, IL with their Aunt Harriet and Uncle Charles. June married John I. Kimball on March 3, 1950, in Dubuque, Iowa. Together they were raising their three children when her husband, John, passed away on May 29, 1965. As a young widow, June raised their three children on her own. June was an excellent cook, and her meals and baked goods were appreciated by all, as well as the towels she lovingly crocheted for gifts for her family and friends. She worked in the school system for many years in the food service department until her retirement. June married Gerald Binder on July 23, 1983. Together they enjoyed vacationing to visit family in Michigan and loved going to the casinos! June loved and treasured the special bond and friendship with her four sisters.

June's memory will be cherished by her husband, Gerald; son, Bill (Cindy) Kimball; daughter, April Steinfort; grandchildren: Erin (Bill) Howell, Andrew (Stephanie) Steinfort, Kelly (Scott) Wittnebel, Jennifer (Kyle Notzke) Steinfort, Katie (Steve) Iseli, Scott (Tiffani) Kimball and Ryan Kimball; great-grandchildren: Teejay, Zane, Kylie, Alexander, Benjamin, Leona, Lawson, Twila, Johnathon and Jackson; three sisters: Vervaine Kimball, Gloria Ayers, Darlene Brunet; daughter in-law, Eugenie (Mike) King; and many nieces and nephews and special friend, Carol Gauger.

June was preceded in death by her husband, John I. Kimball; infant twin sons; son, John E. Kimball; siblings Doris Crane and Edward Watson; and goddaughter, Ruth Kimball.

The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their compassionate, loving care of mom, especially Kathleen, Patricia, Deb and mom's special friend, Kayla. We would also like to thank the compassionate caregivers at The Residence.
