Virginia Marie Brockhaus

After a short illness, Virginia Marie Brockhaus peacefully passed away with her family by her side. She was 91 years old.

She was born in Appleton, WI in 1932 and attended Appleton West High School. She had her first date with James Brockhaus Sr. in 8th grade and was married to him in 1953. Together they unselfishly raised 4 children: Chuck (Joanne), James Jr, Ellen (Kevin Mccue), and David (Jane).

After 67 years of marriage, she was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life on July 11, 2010. Also, preceding her were an extremely dear friend, Bob Sanders in 2021; Her mother Alvina (Bobbie) and her bother Richard Mauel.

Virginia loved listening to books, visiting with her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. She kept in touch with many of her friends, old and new.

She was highly involved in the community, especially Early Morning Kiwanis where she chaired multiple successful fund raising events. She was named Kiwanian of the Year on 2 occasions.

In 2018 she moved into Bella Vista Assisted Living Facility due to a significant deterioration in her eyesight. She was fiercely independent. She wanted to take care of herself to the best of her ability and was successful in doing so. She implemented a Book Club and a Low Vision Support group for the residents.

She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Jason (Ashley), Kristin (Adam Miller), Jodi (Ben Schiller), Ryan (Katie), Brittany (Bryan Wendlandt), Jessica (CJ Smith), Catherine (Brendan Ahern), Lauren, and 15 great grandchildren. 2 sister-in-laws: Donna Reinke and Alice Riedl (Jim). Several nieces and nephews and step brother (William Schmit) and step sister (Nancy Dawson).

A visitation will take place at St. Raphael's the Archangel in Oshkosh at 830 S. Westhaven Dr. on Monday July 24th from 9:30-11 a.m. followed by a mass.
