Walter (Wally) N. Koerwitz, age 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 24, 2018. He was born to the late Walter F. and Martha (Hildebrand) Koerwitz on May 30, 1929 in Neenah, WI. He joined the United States Army and served from 1951 until 1953. After getting out of the army, he married the love of his life, Janet Darling, on October 26, 1957 at Presbyterian Church in Neenah. Wally and Janet were members of Martin Luther Church in Oshkosh. Wally enjoyed gardening, bowling, playing softball and sheepshead. He was an avid Packers, Brewers and Bucks fan. He was proud of the fact that he attended the 1967 Ice Bowl.
Wally is survived by his wife, Janet; four sons, Scott, David, John (Yanru) and Christopher (Angie) Koerwitz; two daughters, Cathy McGee, and Colleen (Fred) Wilde; brother, Daniel (Marilyn) Koerwitz; 14 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Koerwitz.
A funeral service for Wally will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1526 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh, with Rev. Jeffrey Berg officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 1 p.m., followed by the funeral service.
