Warren D. Steinert, 81, of Oshkosh died Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Eden Meadows. He was born October 31, 1932 in Oshkosh a son of the late Herman Jr. and Alice (Missall) Steinert. He married Janet L. Wolff on September 25, 1954, at Peace Lutheran Church.Warren was owner/co-founder of Steinert Printing Co. for over 66 years and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. He served on the Church Council of Peace Lutheran Church and was a past President of the congregation. He was also a Chairman of the Stewardship and Finance Committees, Superintendent of Sunday School for 10 years, served on the Scholarship Committee, was instrumental in buying the new organ at Peace being on the Organ Committee, and was a Senior Choir member for 28 years. He served on the City of Oshkosh Planning Commission from 1975-1980, the Bethel Foundation Board of Trustees from 1993-1998, was a flight instructor for Basler Flight Service-where he soloed once, was a lifetime member of the EAA, and was a member of the Winnebagoland Barbershop Chorus since 1980. He enjoyed traveling-especially driving his SUV, doing jigsaw puzzles, his model trains- working on his track layout the last 7 years, going to the casino-where he always won (they will be glad he is not going to come back), and most of all he loved visiting with his family especially his kids and grandkids. Warren is survived by his wife, Janet of Oshkosh; three sons, Bruce (Kim) Steinert of Grayslake, IL, Daniel (Scarlett) Steinert of Pittsboro, NC, and Mark (Anne) Steinert of Oshkosh; four grandchildren, Jacob Steinert, Caroline Steinert, Jeremy (Maggie) Miller, and Joshua Miller; four great-grandchildren, John-David, Julia, Jameson, and Jorja-Rae Miller; a brother Kenley (Carole) Steinert of Oshkosh; a niece; two nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.A Memorial service for Warren will be Sunday, March 2, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, Rev. John Worzala-Dumke officiating. Visitation will be at the church Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the service. Inurnment will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial in memory of Warren is being established to Peace Lutheran Church and the Winnebagoland Barbershop Chorus.Our family extends a special thanks to Dr. Thomas Klinkhammer, Michelle Roeske APNP, and the gals at Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology, the nurses and aides at Mercy Medical Center, the nurses, aides, and staff at Eden Meadows, and all of our friends and relatives who have shown such care and concern for Warren and us through this difficult time.
