Warren J. Goehrs, 95 of Oshkosh, died at Evergreen Retirement Community on Sunday, January 27, 2008. He was born in Melrose, MN on April 9, 1912, a son of the late Dr. Henry W. and Agnes H. Hill Goehrs. On June 8, 1941, Warren married Marian Walsh in St. Paul, MN. After nearly sixty years of marriage, Marian preceded him in death on September 24, 2000.After receiving his Bachelors Degree from St. Cloud State Teachers College, Warren went on to New York University to earn his Masters Degree, then to Indiana University for his Directorate Degree. He taught at Owatonna, MN for 4 years, Rochester, MN for 5 years, and came to Oshkosh where he was an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh for 27 years. While at UW-Oshkosh he was Director of Intramural Sports for 18 years and Chairman of the Mens Physical Education Department for 16 years. Upon Warrens retirement from the University, he and Marian lived at Crystal Lake for 19 years and then moved to Evergreen Retirement Community in 1992. Warren enjoyed sailing and taught water safety with the American Red Cross. He was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church.Survivors include three daughters, Gretchen (Robert) Bradley Mequon, WI; Janet Hudson, Atlanta, GA; Carolyn (Edward J.) Williams, Oshkosh; one sister, Betty (George) Teigen, St. Cloud, MN; seven grandchildren, Betsy (Bradley) Callahan, Sarah (Bradley) Weiss, Catherine [Hudson] Peck, Tom Hudson, Greg, Andy and Katie Williams; and eleven great grandchildren. Warren was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Gilman H. Goehrs.A private memorial service will be officiated by Rev. Darin Wiebe. Memorials may be directed to the Care Assurance Fund at Evergreen Retirement Community and the Crystal Lake Memorial Fund.
