Warren Roger Lerch

Warren R. LerchWarren R. Lerch, age 79, slipped peacefully away into Gods arms at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 12, 2005. Warrens courage throughout the course of his illness was truly remarkable. He never wasted a moment on self-pity and always kept his sense of humor.He was born on January 5, 1926 in Byron, WI, a son of Ernie and Margaret (Haberkorn) Lerch.On August 28, 1948, he married Margaret (Hungerford) Lerch, and together they farmed in the Town of Byron. Warren and his family moved to Fond du Lac in 1957 where he enjoyed a career as a skilled carpenter, and then to Oshkosh in 1959, to open and operate Service Oil Company, Inc. During this time, he was a member of the Kiwanis Club with ten years of perfect attendance, and also a member of Gasoline Retailers Association. Warren retired in 1990.Warrens greatest love was his family, and he was especially proud of his three children, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, with number four due to arrive in November, 2005. He enjoyed spending summers at his familys cottage on Legend Lake near Shawano, WI. Warren and Margaret lived in Nalcrest, FL during the winter months. They enjoyed playing bridge and various activities with their many friends.He is survived by his wife, Margaret, two sons, Retired Colonel Terry (Dorothy) Lerch of Woodbridge, VA, Gary (Anne) Lerch of Oshkosh, one daughter, Sandra (James) Esselman of Sun Prairie, WI; nine grandchildren, Jason Lerch of Woodbridge, VA, 2nd Lieutenant Tera Lerch of El Paso, TX, SPC 4 Jared Lerch of Woodbridge, VA (currently stationed in Baghdad, Iraq), Patrick (Kim) Esselman of Appleton, Carrie (Jerad) Pearson, Kristi (Corey) Spatola both of Sun Prairie, 2nd Lieutenant Andrew Lerch, Bethany Lerch, and Erin Lerch all of Oshkosh, four great-grandchildren, Alexis Gibson, Dylan Esselman, Alyssa Pearson, and Baby Spatola. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Rollin. Funeral service for Warren will be held on Monday, October 17, 2005 at 10:00 am at Calvary Lutheran Church (2580 W 9th Ave) with Rev Randy Van Ert officiating. Family and friends may call on Sunday at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Westside from 3:00 -7:00 pm, and on Monday at the church from 9:00 am until the hour of service. Burial will be at Ledgeview Memorial Park in Fond du Lac.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be used for cancer and lung research.Warrens family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and Caring Connections for their wonderful care, compassion and support.Within our lives you have given so much to all of us.
