Wayne J. Macdonald

March 26, 1937 — November 15, 2021

Wayne John Macdonald “Duke” age 84, of Oshkosh, passed away Monday, November 15, 2021, after battling dementia for several years. Wayne passed peacefully with his family by his side.

Wayne was born in Evanston, Illinois March 26, 1937, to the late John and Myrtle Macdonald, their only child.

Wayne grew up in Madison and graduated from Madison Edgewood. After graduation he enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1955 and was stationed in Iwakuni, Japan and Taipei, Taiwan and was honorably discharged as sergeant in 1959.

Wayne met the person he would spend the rest of his life with on a blind date in Madison. Marcia Ellis became his wife on June 10, 1961. They had three beautiful daughters.

Wayne spent the majority of his professional life in banking and retired as the Vice President of Chase Bank in 1999. Aside from his professional life Wayne’s passion was his community and he devoted his time accordingly. Wayne was active in Lakeshore Kiwanis and served as President , Oshkosh Area United Way (campaign chairman) and United Cerebral Palsey . Wayne was very competitive and participated in many sports to include: Tennis, Racquetball, Downhill Skiing, Pickleball, Handball, Basketball, Softball and Soccer. He was an avid Badger and Packer fan…ask anyone about his basement!!!

After retirement Wayne bought a few sports cars and added a tattoo. Wayne and Marcia traveled the world either cruising islands or cruising the countryside in the Miata.

Wayne was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His passion for life was unsurpassed.

Wayne is survived by his soul mate of 62 years, Marcia; three daughters: Wendy (Kurt) Hielsberg, Sherry (Gary) Murphy and Jody (Mike) Schroeder; grandchildren: Brent (Meghan) Hielsberg, Carson Hielsberg, Toni (Austin) Eck, Taylor Smestad, Connor Schroeder and Courtney Schroeder; great grandchildren: Jackson and Jayden Hielsberg; and sister-in-law, Monica Ellis.

A memorial service for Wayne will be at 4:00 pm on Monday, November 22, 2021, at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, 100 Lake Pointe Drive, Oshkosh. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 pm until the time of service.

Wayne’s family is eternally grateful for Linda Carlson and the staff at Westbrooke Manor and Compassus Hospice.

Duke, Grandpa Duke, Dad thank you for your endless sense of humor and always pushing things to the limit. We sure enjoyed the ride!!! Love you…
