William “Bill” Pollock Bartlett of Oshkosh passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Evergreen Retirement Community. Bill was born on January 4, 1928 in Oshkosh to John H. and Kathryn (Pollock) Bartlett. On October 19, 1957, Bill married Margaret Spencer at St. Peter Church (Most Blessed Sacrament) in Oshkosh, who preceded him in death. Bill married Elfreid Burns on August 19, 1995 who preceded Bill in death.
Bill was a graduate of Oshkosh High School in 1946 and received his Bachelors in Science Degree with major in Education at UW-Oshkosh in 1971. Bill was employed by Shell Oil company, owned a farm (north of Oshkosh) and most recently was owner of Crane Marsh Lapidary. Bill served in the U.S Army for three years. He served in the Korean war and earned the Korean Service Medal, Bronze star, and a Good Conduct Medal.
Bill loved his family, especially his great grandson and many friends from Arizona, the Rock and Mineral Club – Oshkosh, and the Evergreen community. Bills greatest joy was working in his Lapidary shop creating his jewelry.
Bill is survived by his Daughters Mary Ellen (David) Otto and Ann (John) Roberts and son Steven Bartlett. Four granddaughters Kathryn Otto, Sarah (Justin) Stephens, Lauren Roberts (Adam Lieb), Erica Roberts (Eric Eickhoff), and great grandson Haliten Stephens. A special friend Denise (Keith) Davis, sister-in-law’s Sandra Bartlett and Beth Spencer Peerenboom (Mark), and nephew’s Christopher Bartlett, Mark (Elizabeth) Spencer and Jeff (Mandy) Spencer.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents John and Kathryn Bartlett, his brother David Bartlett, and brother-in-law Michael Spencer.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 11 AM at Evergreen (chapel) 1130 North Westfield Street, Oshkosh, WI. The Reverend Jerome Pastors officiating. A private family interment will take place at Brooks Cemetery. Friends may call at Evergreen on Saturday May 28, 2022 from 10 AM until the time of services.
In Lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Evergreen Foundation.
Special thanks to the staff at Aurora Hospital Hospice and Evergreen staff who helped Bill through the final stage of his life.
