William (Bill) J. Bero, age 81, passed away with his loving family by his side, on Monday, September 23, 2019 at Aurora Medical Center. He was born on December 1, 1937, a son of Charles, Sr. and Florence Bero in Green Bay. He graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1957. William married Margaret Istwan on October 20, 1962 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in De Pere.
Bill was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was employed in retail management at Montgomery Wards, Schmitt’s, Copps Corporation, and Sherwin Williams. Bill loved doing home improvements, wood working, golfing, sports card collecting, and coin collecting with his friend Paul. He also enjoyed golfing and dining with his special friends; Allen and Shirley, Charles and Joanne, John and Ruthie, Mike and Gloria, Tony and Sally, Earl and Pat, and Bill and Margaret. He looked forward to the monthly get togethers with his high school “buddies.” He also enjoyed wintering in Orange Beach, Alabama with family and dear friends, and traveling with his dear friends Mike and Gloria.
Bill is survived by his wife Margaret, daughter Lisa (Michael) Wolff: sons, Robert (Tammy) Bero, and Joseph Bero; his two grandchildren Bailey and Cooper; and his brothers, Jerry (Jan) Bero, Jim (Mitzi) Bero, and Gary (Sue) Bero; and sister Shirley (Charles) Drace. He is further survived by his brothers-in-law Edward (Lynn) Istwan, Michael (Amy) Istwan, John (Susan) Istwan, one sister-in-law Jean (Bill) Carey, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ken, Wayne, Cletus, Charles, and Vernon Bero; and his sisters, Anita Gore, and Donna Van Egren.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caring, supportive staff and transport drivers at Evergreen Creekview Rehab Center and Aurora Medical Center 2-North and 2-West.
To celebrate Bill’s life, friends and family are invited for visitation on October 9, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at The Waters, 1393 Washington Ave., Oshkosh, WI 54901. A memorial service with military honors will follow.
