Wilma Edna Pugh

Wilma Mingo Pugh William Pugh was born on Labor Day, September 4, 1917. His birth date was appropriate as this proud, hardworking man labored earnestly his entire life. It is just as appropriate that his wife, Wilma Pugh, passed away on Valentines Day, February 14, 2009. Wilmas entire life was spent making others feel loved. Her lifes motto was, A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck. And that is what she gave to everyone that came into her life...a bushel of love, a peck on the cheek, and a hug that let you know that you were truly loved.Wilmas love for others grew from the love she received from her own family. The middle child of three, Wilma was born in the small town of Munhall, Pennsylvania. She had a deeply close knit family that enjoyed spending time together walking, fishing, going to church, listening to the radio, going to the movie theater and going out for ice cream. Many nights her family would watch the hot coals from the mill being dumped down the hill, lighting up the sky in a beautiful light ballet as they fell. Besides her family, Wilma loved school (especially English and math), basketball (she played center for her school team), church, music, arts and crafts, working in a dress shop, cooking, spring time, nature, sunshine, sweets, bicycling, traveling, and watching football. Wilma was also interested in becoming a nurse. During the Great Depression she put her nursing interests to practice as she used home made remedies for family illnesses. Being a care giver at heart, Wilma could always be found caring for friends, family, pets and wildlife. Even plants would receive the royal treatment when she was around. Life and love flourished around her. She taught us how to love each other better, on Valentines Day, and every day. Wilma, we will forever be sending you, A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Naomi OBrien, husband, William Pugh, son-in-law, Donald Pressley, and grandson, D.J. Pressley. Wilma is survived by her daughter, Barbara Pressley, Oshkosh, WI, son, Ronald (Judi) Pugh, Neshkoro, WI; two granddaughters, Robin (Joseph) Pressley-Keough, Atlanta, GA, Kara (Robert) Pressley-Mittelsteadt, Winneconne, WI; grandson Daniel (Mike) Pugh, Mesa, AZ; and great granddaughter, Madeline Mittlesteadt, and many close friends she considered family.A memorial service celebrating Wilmas life will be held at the First Congregational Church (137 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh, WI) on Thursday, February 19, 2009. Viewing to be held at 10:00am, service at 11:00am and a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
